About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our modernization practice, migrating aging client systems to modern stacks, working remotely across India.

• Exposure to legacy stacks: Java 8 or older, .NET Framework, PHP monoliths, or on-prem SQL Server/Oracle.

• Experience with strangler-fig or incremental migration patterns.

• Familiarity with containerization and cloud migration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/Azure).

• Exposure to message queues and event-driven decomposition (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Knowledge of automated regression testing for systems without existing test coverage.

• Familiarity with database migration tooling and zero-downtime cutover strategies.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead hands-on modernization work: understanding undocumented legacy systems and safely migrating them to modern architectures.

• Reverse-engineer legacy codebases (Java, .NET, PHP) to map behavior, dependencies, and hidden business logic.

• Design and execute incremental migration plans — strangler-fig services, API facades, phased database cutover.

• Rebuild critical modules in modern stacks (Java Spring Boot, .NET Core, Node.js) with test coverage the original never had.

• Migrate on-prem workloads to cloud infrastructure with minimal client disruption.

• Write characterization tests to lock in existing behavior before refactoring.

• Document system architecture and train client teams on the modernized stack.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate is comfortable reading messy old code and disciplined about not breaking what works.

• B.Tech/B.E, MCA, or M.Tech in Computer Science or a related field.

• 4–7 years of software engineering experience, including at least one significant legacy migration or re-platforming project.

• Strong skills in Java or .NET, plus SQL fluency for untangling database-heavy systems.

• Rigorous testing discipline and risk-aware engineering judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience decomposing monoliths into microservices in production.

• Domain exposure to finance, trading, or ERP systems where legacy modernization demand is highest.

• Cloud migration certification (AWS/Azure).
